PORTLAND — Dan Marois of Poland Spring has been named administrative director for the Maine Public Relations Council, a trade association serving 250-plus public relations professionals in Maine.

In his role, Marois will oversee the administrative duties of the organization, including event management and maintenance of the membership database, and will serve as support to all MPRC committees.

He is the owner of three Maine-based businesses — Mainely Communications, Mystery for Hire and Mainely Improv. He also oversees all communication needs for the New England Healthcare Engineers’ Society.

Previously, he worked for Stephens Memorial Hospital, Franklin Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Health System in Lewiston. He also served as a communications specialist for L.L. Bean.

He is replacing Art Marcoux, who is retiring from the MPRC administrative director position after 25 years with the organization.
