Parents to discuss scheduling

FARMINGTON — An eighth-grade parent night will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 29, at the Mt. Blue Campus Forum, Mt. Blue High School.

Parents will discuss high school scheduling for Mt. Blue Middle School.

Math Night in Andover

ANDOVER — Andover Elementary School will host Math Night from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 2. 

Three community members will give short talks about how they use math in their local businesses, and students will display math skills for their parents.

Legion to hold indoor sale

PARIS — South Paris American Legion Post 72 will hold an indoor sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5.

Tables may be reserved for $10 for yard sale items and $15 for crafters and vendors. 

The lunch counter will be open, and there will be a 50/50 raffle. 

Future sales will be held at the same time, Saturdays, April 9 and May 14.

Proceeds from the sales will help the auxiliary send three girls to Girls State.

Blessing of the Sleds at school

MEXICO — The 19th annual “Blessing of the Sleds” will take place on Saturday, March 5, at Mountain Valley Middle School just off the ITS 82 snowmobile trail.

There may not be enough snow to travel on but people may come by car for the food and support the local snowmobile clubs. There will be french fries, sausage, burgers, hot dogs and drinks.

The day will start at 10:30 a.m., with the blessing at noon. By 1 p.m., all the raffles will have been drawn and the day will be over. 

The new “Blessing” sweatshirts will be on sale as well. 

Boiled dinner planned in Industry

INDUSTRY — The Industry Community Kitchen is sponsoring a boiled dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Industry Town Hall.

Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12 and children under 3 eat free. For families with two adults and two or more children, cost is $24.

FARMINGTON — A New England boiled dinner will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, 110 Academy St.

The meal will consist of beef, vegetables, homemade bread, pies and beverages. Cost is $8.

All are welcome.

Supper, dance to benefit Thurstons

RUMFORD — A supper and dance to benefit Wayne and Adelia Thurston will take place from 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at American Legion Post 24, 184 Congress St.

The spaghetti supper will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children.

The dance will be from 7 to 11 p.m. and music will be provided by FairEnough Band. Dance tickets are $10. Cost for meal and dance is $15.

There will be raffles and a 50/50 drawing. Tickets will be sold from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the hall.

An account titled, “Thurston Fire Fund,” has been set up at Bangor Savings Bank. Donations can be mailed or dropped off at any location.

Best pizza in Oxford Hills?

OXFORD — Pizza lovers in the Oxford Hills will have a chance to vote on their favorite local pies during Oxford Recreation Center’s annual pizza challenge.

Voters will sample local businesses’ pizza from Oxford and the surrounding towns. Those businesses will have samples of a cheese, pepperoni and specialty pizza. 

Voting will run from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at 223 King St. At 2 p.m., the votes will be tallied and winners of each type of pizza, including Best Overall Pizza, will be announced.

All proceeds will go directly to programs offered by the Rec Department. The cost of admission is $3 donation for adults and $1.50 for kids younger than 12. Water and soda will be available to purchase separately. 

Boxberry plans open house, winter fun

HARRISON — The Boxberry School will hold an open house with school tours and outside fun from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Camp Fernwood Cove.

There will be sledding, snowshoeing, crosscountry skiing, ice skating if conditions allow, a campfire with complimentary hot chocolate and ‘smores.

Ecumenical Super Sunday Supper

RANGELEY — The annual Rangeley Ecumenical Soups/Breads and Desserts Super Sunday Supper will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at the Church of the Good Shepherd undercroft, 2614 Main St.

Proceeds(donations), this year will go to the Kids Nutrition Initiative.

The Rangeley Ecumenical Churches are the Rangeley Congregational Church, the Rangeley Free Baptist Church, the Church of the Good Shepherd and St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church.

NAMI course beginning in Paris

PARIS — NAMI Maine and NAMI Western Mountains, ME affiliate are sponsoring NAMI’s Family to Family free education course for families, friends and caregivers of persons living with mental illness at the University Center from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, April 7 to June 23. 

Participants will learn about mental illness, treatments and therapies, communication and coping skills, advocating, resources and caring for oneself.
