BRYANT POND — Gordon Ralph Brown, 86, of Bryant Pond died on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born in Bethel on Sept. 23, 1929, the son of Elwin and Jennie Day Brown. He served in the U.S. Navy for 27 years as a boatswain’s mate and then a chief warrant officer. He married Beverly Billings on June 9, 1951. He spent 20 years logging and working with land management and then went into real estate. He founded Four Seasons Realty in 1994, retiring in 2005.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bryant Pond, the VFW in Locke Mills, a member of the Western Maine Board of Realtors and the Bryant Pond Planning Board. He coached youth baseball in the ’60s and ’70s. He was an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Reginald Brown and wife, Tamar, Wanda Johnson, Matthew R. Brown and wife, Lisa Nastasi Brown; grandchildren, Julia Williamson and Gary, Madeline Brown, and Matthew P. Brown; great-grandchildren, Buddy Williamson, Hunter Williamson, Wyatt Williamson and Wylie Williamson; and many nieces and nephews; as well as his loving dog, Tillie.
He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Charles Johnson.
