When goats, sheep need vet care

ORONO — University of Maine Cooperative Extension has published a fact sheet for goat and sheep producers to help determine whether veterinary care is needed.

“When to Call the Veterinarian — Tips for Producers of Small Ruminants in Maine” (umaine.edu/publications/1049e) was written by Richard Brzozowski, UMaine Extension food system program administrator; Anne Lichtenwalner, DVM, UMaine Extension associate professor of animal and veterinary sciences; and James Weber, DVM, UMaine associate professor of veterinary sciences.

Adult Ed focus of State House Day

AUGUSTA — Maine Adult Education will hold its annual State House Day in the Hall of Flags from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 3.

The event provides the many adult education programs in Maine an opportunity to visit their legislators. Programs will have informational table displays in the Hall of Flags.

Several programs will bring groups of adult learners to visit sessions of the House and Senate, tour the State House and visit the Maine State Museum.

At 11:30 a.m., a program in the State House Hall of Flags will highlight the many ways that adult education programs have enhanced the lives of participants. Speakers will include Acting Commissioner of Education William Beardsley, State Director of Adult Education Gail Senese, MAEA President Razell Ward and students from area adult education programs. All are welcome to attend.

Saturday breakfast, book sale at Williams House

WAYNE —  First Saturday at the Williams House, 14 Old Winthrop Road, will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 5. There will be a book sale and “boutique” breakfast.

All proceeds benefit the Cary Memorial Library.

Girl Scouts to donate cookies

HARTFORD — Girl Scout Troop 2285 will host a cookie booth sale to raise money for several overnight trips.

As part of community involvement, the girls have decided to accept cookie donations, which will be delivered to the Barbra Bush Children’s Hospital for patients and their families in April.

Saturday, March 5, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., next to McDonald’s, 118 Main St., South Paris.

Lakeside Chapter annual meeting

WALES — Lakeside Chapter No. 60, Order of the Eastern Star, will resume meetings Tuesday, March 8.

There will be a pot luck supper at 6 p.m. provided by the officers and members. The Annual Meeting will begin at 7 p.m. with the regular Chapter business, followed by the Financial Committee’s report.

The meeting will conclude with the election of officers and regular closing ceremony.

Officers will be in street dress. Members are reminded to bring coupons for the troops to the meeting. The Secretary is accepting the dues for 2016.
