AUBURN — Cecile E. Guay, 86, of 800 Main St., Lewiston, died on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the Hospice House in Auburn.
Born in Lewiston on March 25, 1929, she was the daughter of Albert and Mildred Morse Bourgea. In 1950, she married Gerald A. Guay and together they raised their two children. Gerald passed away on Aug. 22, 2013. She was educated in local schools and earned her GED at the age of 61. She worked as a spinner at Bates Fabrics for 43 years, retiring at age 60.
She was a true fan of the Boston Red Sox and never missed watching a game, and also enjoyed watching the New England Patriots. She was also an avid card player, but what gave her the greatest joy was being around her family, whom she loved dearly.
Survivors include her daughter, Lorraine Merrick of Lewiston; her son, Raymond and wife, Linda, of Lisbon Falls; four grandchildren, Maureen, Kathy, Zack and Brandon; two great-grandchildren, Jake and Rivers; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Ronnie. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, T-T; and granddog, Willie.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Asa Merrick.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Hospice House for the loving care they gave Cecile during her final illness.
