1970 – 2016
AUBURN — Sonya Jean Dyer, 45, of Harrison died on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 24, at the Hospice House in Auburn, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Nov. 1, 1970, in Lewiston, the daughter of Patricia (Jewell) Jordan and her husband, Mark Jordan. She attended local elementary schools in Norway and Oxford, before moving to Colorado with her parents where she continued her education. As a young adult, she finished her schooling at Oxford Hills High School.
For years, Sonya worked as a manager at the Big Apple stores in Bridgton, after gaining experience in variety store business in Bolsters Mills. Her greatest work, however, was the care she gave her two sons, Joshua and Casey, at home.
Sonya is survived by her parents, Pat and Mark Jordan of Tonopah, Ariz.; two sons, Joshua Dyer of Norway and Casey Dyer of Harrison; stepsons, David Dyer of Oxford and Thomas Dyer of Harrison; a stepsister, Tina Kimball of Norway; grandparents, Reginald and Barbara Jordan of Poland; aunts and uncles, Larry Jordan and his wife, Jan, of Poland, Penny Burgess of Madison, N.H., Pam Banville of Gray, Judy Akers of Poland, Howard Jewell and his wife, Penny, of Waterford, Paul Lowe and his wife, Penny, of Otisfield, and Arthur Lowe and his wife, Laura, of Poland; many cousins, including Charles Larson and his wife, Betty, and their sons, Stanley and Brett.
She was predeceased by grandparents, Ray and Helen Jewell and Erma Lowe; an infant grandson, Everett Dyer; an aunt, Connie Jewell; and cousins, Tim and Kevin Jewell.
Her family wishes a heartfelt thank-you to all of her wonderful caregivers over the years, including the Bridgton Hospital, especially the Oncology Department and Dr. Boedeker, Beacon Hospice, as well as the staff of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice and the Hospice House in Auburn.
