In the few short years the Rev. Conrad L’Heureux has seen at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn, he’s managed to turn the church around — literally. And on Easter Sunday, the official unveiling of the new church, as he calls it, will take place. “This is the pride and joy of this community,” he said this week. Since Jan. 2, workers have removed every pew, laid down a new sub-floor, replaced old walls with new wallboard, installed new oak wainscoting and reversed the order of the church entirely, constructing a new sanctuary at the back of the church, directly opposite its original position. “The church is very unique in that people sitting in the rear of the church would see less and less of the sanctuary” because the floor had a 27-inch upward pitch from back to front.
