Art scholarship seeking applications
LIBERTY — Liberty Graphics is accepting submissions for its 19th annual $1,000 art scholarship. All high school seniors living in Maine may submit original works that reflect the theme of “Art and our Natural Environment.”
Entries must be traditional two-dimensional media and must be postmarked by Monday, March 14. Photography, sculpture and computer-generated works cannot be considered.
Entry forms are available by contacting school art teachers via the company’s website. The winner will be announced in early April, and art will be returned in late April. Each student may submit more than one piece of work.
The award is intended to aid and encourage students in the pursuit of their artistic experiences and learning.

Maine Naturalist Program accepting applications
BRIDGTON — The Maine Master Naturalist Program is now accepting student applications for its Tier One course at the Lakes Environmental Association’s Maine Lake Science Center. The course takes place from May 4 to Sept. 7.
Students will participate in a rigorous set of classes, covering insects, wildflowers, shrubs, mammals, ferns, trees, birds and ecological principles. The course consists of seven Wednesday night classes, four Saturday field trips and 20 hours of volunteer work at a park, land trust, school or nonprofit.
Tuition costs $365 and covers course instruction, books, equipment and supplies. Students completing the course and requirements will be certified as Maine Associate Naturalists.
Applications are due by Tuesday, March 15, and applicants will be notified by April 8.

Irish corned beef supper planned
SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner will host a community Irish corned beef, potatoes and cabbage supper at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at 50 Main St., Route 219.
Donations will be accepted for the cost of the meal. There will also be salads, dessert, coffee and punch, as well as a raffle of baked goods and household items.
Proceeds benefit the outreach mission of the Church.

Harrison baseball, softball sign-ups
HARRISON — Registrations for the baseball, softball and T-ball season will take place at the Fire Station Community Room from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, March 7 and 9. Deadline is Thursday, March 10.
The programs are open to Harrison boys ages 4 to 15 and Harrison girls ages 4 to 14.
Staff needs to form teams, recruit coaches, order equipment and supplies and schedule fields for practices and games. They need to know numbers as soon as possible.
Assessments will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at The Zone in South Paris for baseball rookies, minors and majors.
Fees for T-ball are $25; Minors & Majors, $40; Babe Ruth, $45; softball, $35. Checks should be made payable to the town of Harrison.
