1949 – 2016
PORTLAND — Judy Tripp, 66, of Oxford passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 19, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born at Fort Dix, N.J., on Dec. 13, 1949. Daughter to Burman and Norma (Whittaker) Meads. She grew up as an Army brat and left home at an early age to pursue her independence. On her journey, she connected with her foster family and gained a second family that she would remain close to for the rest of her life.
Judy moved around a bit until settling in Western Maine with her then-husband, Scott. She remained in the Oxford Hills until her death. During the early to mid-1990s, she was a member of the Paris Ladies’ Fire Auxiliary, although she is best known for her time spent at Hannaford. She made countless friends over the years. She was known for her mothering instincts, bluntness and love of joking around. She became a second mom to many of her children’s friends and the younger staff at Hannaford. Although Judy’s biological family is relatively small in the area, the people who considered her family is extensive.
She is survived by her ex-husband, Scott; her son, Leon, his wife, Kristi, their son, Colby; her daughter, Amanda and her sons, Mason and Caleb.
