1924 – 2016

LISBON FALLS — Emerson Melvin Brewer passed away on Thursday, March 3. Emerson was 91 years young!

He was born in Lisbon on Dec. 16, 1924, the son of Willis and Freda (Williams) Brewer. He attended Lisbon schools and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed in Italy before returning to the states in 1945.

On Sept. 4, 1948, Emerson married the love of his life, Florence Carville. Together, they raised their family in Lisbon Falls.

He was a master electrician for Huston and Frena when he retired in 1984. After retiring, he began a second career and transported cars for Hertz-Rent-a-Car for 20 years.

He attended the Lisbon United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the choir. He was a member of the Ancient York Masonic Lodge, Pioneer Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, as well as Kora Shrine Chanters. He also took an active role in the Rainbow girls in support of his daughters.

He loved fishing, camping and kayaking with dear friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, and was a loving father to three beautiful and talented daughters, Cathy Liguori of Auburn, Janis Moore and husband, Moe, of Lisbon and Debbie Madden of Saco. He was known as “Bumpa” to his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

All loved him dearly and have special memories of times spent with him.

He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Ken Marr and Milton Robbins.
