1926 – 2016
AUBURN — Rose A. Roy, 89, formerly of the Roak Block in Auburn and more recently a resident of Odd Fellows’ & Rebekahs’ Home of Maine died Saturday morning, March 5, at the Hospice House with family at her side.
She was born in Lewiston on March 16, 1926, one of three children born to Rosaire and Yvonne (Labonte) Capano. Rose was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. On Nov. 28, 1957, she married Alphee J. Roy and together they settled in Lewiston to raise their family. He predeceased her on Sept. 1, 1985.
Rose worked for many years in local textile and shoe manufacturing mills, including the Continental Mill, Bates Mill and Hill Mill until her retirement. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and enjoyed playing Beano, card games, especially Scat, her hand-held video poker game, and doing various crafts including crocheting and knitting. But most of all, she always enjoyed the company of her family and those special get-togethers filled with fun and laughter. She was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
She leaves behind her daughter, Marie Poulin and husband, Joseph Jr. of Lewiston; and her son, Raymond Roy and wife, Diane, of Arizonia; seven grandchildren, Larry, Constance, Joseph III, Monique, Eugene, David and Lisa; 13 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Capano and family of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Rose was predeceased by her husband, Alphee; and sister, Therese Grondin.
