RANGELEY — Joseph Livera of Rangeley, a senior at Rangeley Lakes Regional School, has been selected to receive the 2016 Principal’s Award, Principal Charles Brown announced.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
Livera was selected from this year’s graduating class for his continuous demonstration of the RLRS pillars (Respect, Leadership, Responsibility and Service). Livera served as a captain of the soccer team, as well as a Big Brother at the school. He has demonstrated academic excellence by being named to the honor roll throughout his high school years.
“Joe is a remarkable young man that many of our students look up to. He is admired for his quiet demeanor and his positive role model image,” Brown said.
Livera, Brown and other award winners and their principals will attend the Honors Luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.
The luncheon recognizes the students with the presentation of individual plaques and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. McGowan and Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the association. An additional five $1,000 scholarships will be presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA.
