1953 – 2016

AUBURN — Doris S. Guenette, 62, of Pinewood Acres Road in Bowdoin, died Saturday afternoon, March 5, at the Hospice House with family at her side.

She was born in Lewiston on Nov. 1, 1953, one of nine children born to Ronaldo and Pearl (Letourneau) Guenette. Doris was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.

She was a military veteran, having served her country in the U.S. Army until her honorable discharge. Doris served two tours of duty, one during the Vietnam War and the other during Desert Storm. During time between those wars and following her honorable discharge, she also served for a time in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Following her time in the service, Doris worked many years as a truck driver for various trucking companies, until her retirement.

She liked woodworking and loved being in the outdoors as she enjoyed hunting, four-wheeling and snowmobiling. Doris was a very outgoing and friendly lady with a wonderful personality, a real “people-person.” In her later years, she finally achieved a life dream that was important to her and was able to enjoy a trip to Florida and meet Mickey Mouse. But perhaps most of all, she knew and valued the importance of family, friends, those relationships and the fun and special times spent together, and also the company of her two pets, her cat, Keara and puppy, Shelby. Doris was a loving, devoted and hardworking life-partner, sister and aunt who will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind her partner, Jacqueline Spear of Bowdoin; the family would like to thank her partner, Jackie, for taking such wonderful care of our beloved sister during her battle with cancer. She also leaves behind her eight sisters and brothers, Theresa Feely and partner, Raymond Cote, of Lewiston, Ronald Guenette and wife, Joline, of Lewiston, Robert Guenette of St. Albans, Jane Guenette and companion, George Gauthier, of Lewiston, Diane Sparks and husband, Ken, of Sabattus, Richard Guenette and wife, Mary Ann, of Sabattus, Raymond Guenette and wife, Stacy, of Sabattus and Michael Guenette of Casco; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Rausch and the staff at Central Maine Medical Center Oncology, as well as the staff of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice and all staff at the Hospice House for the love, support, efforts and wonderful care given to Doris and her family during her long battle.
