FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington Creative Writing program will host fiction author William Giraldi as the next reader in its Visiting Writers Series.
Giraldi will read from his work at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in the Landing in the UMF Olsen Student Center. The event is free and open to the public.
Giraldi is author of the critically acclaimed novels “Busy Monsters” and “Hold the Dark,” and the memoir “The Hero’s Body,” all published by W.W. Norton. “Busy Monsters,” his first novel, was heralded by The Daily Beast as, “Bold, propulsive prose and hilarious, thought-inducing cultural references . . . A compelling work of literary merrymaking.”
He is fiction editor for the journal AGNI at Boston University. His criticism appears frequently in The New Republic, The New York Times, The Oxford American, Poets & Writers, The Daily Beast, The Wall Street Journal, The New Criterion, and Virginia Quarterly Review.
