DEAR SUN SPOTS: My question is about channel 87, the ME channel on Time Warner Cable. The picture breaks up, the picture freezes, the screen goes black and there’s no sound. Some days, I cannot watch the programs at all. What causes that, and can the cable company do anything to correct it? Thank you. — No Name, Lewiston.

ANSWER: Time Warner Cable offers free service calls, and Sun Spots recommends that you contact it for assistance. There are any number of reasons why your station might be cutting out on you, ranging from a loose connection to a problem with your cable box. A service technician has fancy and expensive tools to help locate the problem. You can reach Time Warner Cable customer service by calling 1-800-892-4357.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: CMMC is looking for volunteers to make blankets to give patients in the hospital who are spending time away from loved ones. When patients appear to be in need of some extra TLC, a blanket helps provide comfort and warmth. Blankets should either be lap size, approximately 30 inches by 30 inches, or a twin-bed size and can be knit, crocheted or made from fleece. Blankets may be dropped off at the Information Desk at the Main entrance located at 60 High St., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact Laurie McGilvery at 330-7463. Thank you for helping us to provide comfort to patients in our community. — Laurie, Lewiston.
