LIVERMORE FALLS — Spruce Mountain Adult and Community Education has announced upcoming enrichment courses. The center is located at 9 Cedar St.

Teaching 10 Tips: Tuesday evenings. The Healthy Community Coalition will provide nutrition lessons and guidance for smart shopping for fruits and veggies. There will be demonstrations and taste-testing on site. The classes are based on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s “10 Tips Nutrition Education Series,” which will provide tips from the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Free.

Friday Morning Social: 9 to 11 a.m. Fridays twice a month through June 10. Participants can socialize while playing bingo, dominoes and cribbage. Admission is $5 per session or $30 total.

Substitute Training: Call ahead for dates and times. Substitute teachers assume the same responsibilities and duties as regular classroom teachers. The purpose of this class is to assist participants interested in becoming substitute teachers in recognizing, following and enforcing the policies, procedures and practices of the Regional School Unit 73 school district. Free.

Card Making: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays through April 7. Participants will create homemade greeting cards that can be used for a variety of different occasions. Each student will need small scissors, glue dots and adhesive. There is a additional $8 material fee paid to the instructor weekly. Course admission costs $10.

Dog Obedience: 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 15. This is a beginner obedience class for those looking to build a better relationship with their dogs. Using positive training, handlers will learn to enjoy dogs by teaching them the meaning of sit, down and walk nicely. Course admission costs $45.

Family Fun Night: 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17. Families will get together for a night of games, crafts and more. Free.

Baking pies: 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 29 or April 5. Participants will learn how to make and bake a two-crusted pie. They will take home an apple pie. There is an additional $20 material fee to be paid to the instructor. Course admission costs $25 for one class.

Do You Want to Be a Real Estate Agent?: 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 23. This class will explore what the work of a real estate agent entails — it’s more than just showing houses. Participants will learn how to get their real estate licenses, the costs of being in the business and how to evaluate an agency with which to affiliate. Course admission costs $5.

Learn to Knit: 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, March 28 to April 25. This class will teach basic knitting stitches, casting on and casting off. Participants will practice their new skills by making wrist warmers and scarves. Materials students need to bring to the class include one set of straight knitting needles, preferably between sizes eight and 10½, 7 ounces of yarn in any color, needle scissors and a tape measure. Course admission costs $20.

Becoming a Notary Public in Maine: 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 30. This course will discuss the responsibilities of notary publics, who are revered by the legal system. Participants will learn how to serve the people of Maine with a Notary Public Commission from the Secretary of State’s office. Course admission costs $30.
