ANSWER: Your question is quite timely, as a matter of fact. Daylight Savings Time begins at 2 a.m. this Sunday, March 13. You will lose an hour of sleep, but you will begin to enjoy more and more sunlight going forward. So, take a walk after dinner, tend to your spring flowers or just sit on the porch and soak up some rays — and remember that it’s also time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My Dad had knee replacement surgery this week and is coming home tomorrow. He has six weeks before he goes back in to have his other knee replaced. We are looking for a three-wheeled bicycle to rent or a used one to purchase to aid in his rehab. It is important the we support his recovery for both knees as we are planning our first family trip to Florida in the fall. Having him able to walk around and enjoy his time is very important to all of us, especially his grandchildren. Where can we either rent a three-wheeled bicycle or purchase a low-cost used one? Thank you. — Kimberly, Auburn.

ANSWER: Good luck to your father with his surgeries. Sun Spots hopes that perhaps a reader can help you find a good price on a used three-wheel bicycle but, in the meantime, Roy’s Bicycle Shop in Lewiston sometimes has used bikes, including adult tricycles, for sale. They also can help set you up with a brand new one, but they need information on the rider to make sure to match you up properly. You can contact them at 207-783-9090.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have found an article in the archives of August 19, 1940, of the Sun. Is there any way I can get the article printed? — Claire, No Town.

ANSWER: Assuming that you found the 1940 article using the archive provided by Google, then you can always hit “Print Screen” on your computer’s keyboard which will print whatever you can see on the screen you are viewing. This might require moving the picture a few different times to print out all parts of the article.

You can also visit the public library in Lewiston where they maintain an archive of Sun Journal (as well as Daily Sun and Evening Journal) papers on their microfiche films and can print images stored there. Reach out to the library’s research desk.
