1921 – 2016

WALES — Edward W. Chick, 94, a resident of Wales, passed away Friday, March 11, at the home of his daughter, Sheila.

Eddie was born in Monmouth on Oct. 3, 1921, the son of William H. Chick and Gertrude A. (Curran) Chick. He attended Monmouth schools and graduated from Monmouth Academy in 1939. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On July 4, 1947, in Wales, Ed married Rachel Wing, of North Monmouth.

Eddie worked at the Bonafide Mills in Winthrop, Albany Felt in North Monmouth and Chick Orchards in Monmouth. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Eddie was a big-time painter, having painted almost every building in Monmouth. In his later years, he could be seen walking to the post office every day and stopping for a rest on the steps of Mrs. Flanders home on Main Street while on his way back home. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Winthrop, a life member of Monmouth Post No. 204 and a life member of the Gideons.

Eddie is survived by his children, Sheila McDonald of Wales, Debbie and Paul Bouchard of Lewiston, Judy and James Longchamps of Lewiston, Steven Chick of Gardiner, Elliott Chick of Massachusetts, Randy and Tamara Chick of Oxford and Jeff and Bethany of Wales; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Janice Sawyer and Evelyn Halloway and her husband, Dick.

He was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Linda Freeman; his brother, Richard Chick; three sisters, Edith Blaisdell, Dorothy Chick and Shirley LaBonte; and hid son-in-law, Blaine McDonald.
