In response to “Is Donald Trump a narcissist?” (March 8), Ronald Melendy, a licensed clinical social worker, poignantly describes the nine criteria of the American Psychiatric Association for diagnosing narcissist behavior.

What is fascinating about the article, is the singling out of Donald Trump. Being vehemently disliked by many Republicans and Democrats alike is not a characteristic trait belonging to Trump alone.

Based on the criteria presented and personally meeting at least five of the following, these prominent officials should be mentioned as well:

• Former Sen. Hillary Clinton;

• former President Bill Clinton;

• current President Barack Obama;

• Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi;

• Majority Leader Mitch McConnell;

• Sen. Angus King, I-Maine;

• Gov. Paul LePage;

• and many other elected officials, based on the criteria.

To suggest or assume the existence, fact or truth of (something) as a basis for reasoning, discussion, or belief could be construed as being haughty.

My point being — who really is or is not a narcissist?

When it comes to electing someone to lead this great country, I can only hope that those who are willing to cast their vote will take the time to become well informed about their candidate as well as their candidate’s opposition. Based on information garnered from as many resources as possible, voters must make the best choice for a candidate they feel will benefit this great country and all of its people.
