1954 – 2016

LEWISTON — Joan M. Parker, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 10, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Farmington on April 11, 1954, the daughter of Joseph and Dora Slovak. She attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School and graduated from Jay High School, Class of 1972.

She married her high school sweetheart, Curt Parker, that same year, and raised their three children in North Jay. In her early years, she worked in the local shoe shops. Later, she managed the family business. As her children grew older, she worked for Jay School Food Services. She worked there for more than 20 years, and enjoyed serving the students and watching them grow.

Joan enjoyed yard sales and shopping, always looking for the ultimate deal. In the summertime, she loved sitting on the porch at camp with friends and family at Webb Lake in Weld.

Joan is survived by her husband of 44 years, Curt Parker of Jay; her daughters, Jennifer Beaulieu and husband, John, of Jay, Kelly Parker and her significant other, JD Perry, of Jay; and her son, Christopher Parker and his wife, Heather, of Lisbon; four grandchildren, Parker and Connor Beaulieu and Aidan and Nolan Parker; her father, Joseph Slovak of Jay; her sister, Pauline Slovak of Las Vegas, Nev.; her brothers, Paul Slovak of Jay, and Thomas Slovak and his wife, Lori, of Livermore Falls; her brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Cindy Parker of Del Rio, Texas; and several extended family members.

She was predeceased by her mother, Dora; and her in-laws, Sonny and Ruth Parker.
