lewiston — Martha D. Rossignol, 94, previously of Scribner Boulevard in Lewiston, died with her family by her side at d’Youville Pavilion on Sunday, March 13.
She was born in Frenchville on March 6, 1922, a daughter of the late Antoine and Marie (Ouellette) Dubois. She was educated in Frenchville schools and was a graduate of the Pelletier School of Hairdressing in 1959. She owned and operated her own salon known as Martha’s Beauty Shop for 37 years.
Martha enjoyed cruising, cooking, baking, especially her molasses cookies, playing bingo and going to casinos. With her heart of gold, she also loved entertaining friends and family.
In her later years, she enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her sisters. She married the love of her life, Louis P. Rossignol, on Dec. 29, 1945, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Louis predeceased her on Feb. 10, 2006.
She was a communicant of Prince of Peace Parish in Lewiston and a member of the Ladies of Sainte Anne at Holy Family Church, as well as a member of New Auburn Seniors.
She is survived by her three daughters, Odette Therrien and her husband, Bert, of Lewiston, Conni Langevin and her husband, John, of Naples, and Monique Rossignol and her husband, Joe Villers, of New Hampshire. She also leaves behind four granddaughters, Christine Dubois of Auburn, Lori Aliberti and her husband, Alan, of Topsham, Samantha Cady and Alexandra Villers of New Hampshire; one great-grandson, Quinlan Dubois; and one great-granddaughter, Paige Dubois; a stepgranddaughter, Annette Varndell of Frederick, Md.; and two stepgrandsons, Brandon and Kevin Varndell; as well as several nieces and nephews from the Dubois and Rossignol families.
She was predeceased by seven sisters, Anna Bouchard, Saidie Voisine, Zenaide Couillard, Alphena Sabine, Rose Martin, Jeanne Labrecque and Lucienne Dubois; and four brothers, Willard, Arthur, Alphee and Lawrence Dubois.
The family wishes to thank the staff at d’Youville Pavilion, along with Dr. Bither’s staff for the wonderful care they gave Martha during her stay there as well as Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for the tender and exceptional care they provided for her during her last days.
