LEWISTON — The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southwestern Androscoggin County.
Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail and wind gusts around 50 mph. This storm was located over Mechanic Falls and was moving southeast at 20 mph.
It was expected to impact Lewiston, Mechanic Falls, Hebron, Poland, Minot, New Gloucester and Oxford.
In addition to large hail and damaging winds, the NWS warns lightning is occurring with this storm, and people should move indoors.
