FREEPORT — Recently, representatives of Maine’s credit unions gathered at the Harraseeket Inn for the 2015 Ending Hunger Campaign Results Celebration Luncheon.
The event recognizes credit unions for raising funds for the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. The official, record-breaking total was announced — coming in at $622,933.63 raised during the 2015 campaign — more than $70,000 more than last year’s record-breaking total.
Six credit unions with branches in Androscoggin, Oxford and/or Franklin counties finished in the top 25 in total funds raised, including: Rainbow FCU, whose main office is in Lewiston (sixth); Five County CU, with locations in Auburn, Lewiston and Lisbon (12th); Sabattus Regional CU of Sabattus (15th); Franklin-Somerset FCU, with branches in Farmington and Kingfield (19th); Otis FCU of Jay (23rd); and University CU, with a branch in Farmington (24th).
Seven credit unions with branches in Androscoggin, Oxford and/or Franklin counties finished in the top 25 in highest per member contributions, including: Sabattus Regional CU (fourth); Rainbow FCU (15th); Monmouth FCU, whose main office is in Monmouth (16th); Franklin-Somerset (19th); Community CU, with its main office in Lewiston (tied for 22nd) with Otis FCU of Jay; and Lisbon Community FCU, with its main office in Lisbon (25th). All other credit unions with ties to the region participated in the campaign.
