NORWAY — Oxford Hills Area Clergy Association will hold its annual Walk of the Cross on Good Friday, March 25.

The annual pilgrimage will travel to churches in Norway and Paris, stopping briefly at each for reflection and a chorus before continuing on in relative quiet.

Oxford Hills area church members and friends will convene at the Norway Universalist Unitarian Church at the head of Main Street at 1 p.m. They will make a pilgrimage down Main Street to Second Congregational, Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church and Christ Episcopal before continuing on to Paris. Once in Paris, the group will stop at Deering Memorial United Methodist Church and First Congregational Church, concluding at Trinity Lutheran Church on the Buckfield Road.

While this event sees many participants walk the entire route, others may choose to drive to the various churches or plan to join in at one or two churches hoping to catch the spirit of this most somber day in the Christian year.

“This event has been going on for well over 25 years,” says the Rev. Don Mayberry of First Congregational Church, a longtime member of the Oxford Hills Clergy. “It brings Christians from area churches together for a simple yet profound service with the quiet and the walking being as meaningful as the spoken words.”

The walk starts at 1 p.m. in Norway and concludes around 3 p.m. in Paris. Everyone is welcome to participate.
