1939 – 2016

GRAY — James Matthew Grier, 76, left us on Friday, March 18, with devoted wife, Teresa, by his side at home in Gray.

Jim, as he was known to beloved friends and family, was born July 26, 1939, in Carbondale, Pa., to James L. and Anne White Grier.

Growing up, Jim had close relationships with his sister, Mary, and his brother, Jerry, that only deepened as they grew older.

Jim graduated from Saint Rose and served our country for four years in the U.S. Army, worked as a delivery driver for Ma’s Soda and Spaulding Bakery before becoming a biomedical technician at Johnson Technical Institute. He later transferred to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. A fortuitous move that facilitated meeting the love of his life, Teresa. They married on Oct. 5, 1996, and enjoyed a rare love affair for nearly 20 years.

He loved his children very much and is survived by sons, James L. Grier, Michael Grier and Sean P. Grier; daughter, Dodi Butler; grandchildren, Christopher, Shane, Maura, Tara, Conor, Joseph, Peter, Annie and Johnny; and great-granddaughter, Vaida Mae.
