LEWISTON — Ever walked into an ice rink and left with a hot tub?

You could’ve at the fifth annual Maine Home Show at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Saturday.

The show, featuring more than 100 displays and drawing nearly 3,000 people over the weekend, allows local businesses to directly communicate with the public and show off their products and services.

The hot tubs were filled and jets were pumping, flooring companies covered their area in hardwoods and carpets and tile.

It was a fully immersive event to give the attendees a homey feeling. Possibly a little too homey for some people.

Amber Marin, with Premier Pools, said, “Every show we get someone who jumps in the hot tub by the end of the weekend.”

There were also displays for riding mowers, new gutters, energy-efficient windows and insulation.

You could arrange free in-home estimates, check out bathroom options or even purchase a product then and there.

Sha-lyn Trafton at the Renewal by Andersen booth said they’d had a lot of traffic Saturday. “We’re getting a lot of buzz; it seems like a good turnout so far.” Their booth was offering free entry to win $10,000 worth of new windows and installation.

The Home Show will be open Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with $5 admission and free parking.
