AUGUSTA (AP) — A lawsuit filed by the family of a 16-year-old Whitefield boy who died when the all-terrain vehicle he was operating crashed into a car driven by a teenage girl has been settled.

Stacy Savage filed the wrongful-death suit last year in Kennebec County Superior Court as personal representative of the estate of Ryan Wayne Mullens.

The suit named Karen Crommett, mother of the 16-year-old driver, as the defendant.

Police say Mullens’ ATV crossed paths with the vehicle driven by the teen in June 2014. Mullens, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, was thrown off the ATV as it rolled over. He died at the hospital.

The Kennebec Journal reported (http://bit.ly/1SlD8Tv ) attorney Jason Jabar said Tuesday the case has been settled with the Crommetts’ insurance company. Details of the settlement weren’t available.
