MONMOUTH — The Monmouth Lions Club held the 2016 Speak-Out event March 7 at the United Church of Monmouth Packard Activity Center.
Madison Bumann took first place with a speech about the tiny house movement. She received $60 in prize money. Corey Tatarka placed second and received $50 for his speech on diabetes. Becki Bryant took third place with her speech on animal testing and was awarded $40. All three are students at Monmouth Academy.
At the end of the speeches, contestants were asked questions about the subject topics by Lions Nancy Schkrioba and Amanda Angell. Speeches were evaluated in three categories: delivery of speech, content material and response to the questions.
Judges were Lions Archie Wing, Kate Cloutier and Robert Mulliken.
Monmouth Academy coaches Scott and Cathy Foyt were presented a Lions Club International note book in recognition of their hard work and dedication.
