AUGUSTA — Maine Commission for Community Service will recognize three local youths with the Governor’s Award for Service and Volunteerism.
The recipients have met the criteria to receive the Governor’s Award for Service & Volunteerism by volunteering at Rumford Hospital through the Junior Volunteer program.
Nominating the students was Susan Hedrich, system director of Volunteer Services for Central Maine Healthcare, the parent company of Rumford Hospital, Central Maine Medical Center and Bridgton Hospital.
Students must complete at least 50 hours of volunteer service and be younger than 18 years old. The students will each receive a certificate of recognition from the Governor’s Office, a President’s Volunteer Service medallion and a ticket to the Portland Pirates youth volunteer recognition game on April 10.
Students are: Nolan Downs of Dixfield with 184 hours of service at both Rumford Hospital and CMMC; Camryn Berry of Livermore with 150 hours of service at Rumford Hospital; and Sophia Jacques of Peru with 50 hours of service at Rumford Hospital.
National Volunteer Week is the week of April 11, and the teens will be honored during the Portland Pirates Youth Volunteer Recognition Game Sunday, April 10.
