LEWISTON — The “Believe in Steve” breakfast Saturday for the husband of School Committee Chairwoman Linda Scott raised almost $4,000 for the family, according to one of the organizers.
Heidi Sawyer posted on Facebook that 323 people turned out, raising $5,083.75. After food expenses for the breakfast, which was hosted by the School Committee at The Green Ladle, the Scotts will receive $3,958.
Linda Scott posted in response: “I’m am (sic) absolutely overwhelmed, and I’m not gonna lie I can not stop crying tears of joy and love. There is no way I could ever thank you all enough for what you have done for my family, you are ALL AMAZING!”
Scott’s husband, Steve, became ill suddenly last month and was diagnosed with a severe pancreatic infection. He’s facing several more months of recovery in the hospital.
