CUMC hosting bean, casserole supper

LEWISTON — The Calvary United Methodist Church will host its monthly baked bean and casserole supper at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Bartlett Street Garden entrance.

Cost of the meal is $7.50 for adults and $3 for children.

The menu will include assorted baked beans, hot dogs, biscuits, casseroles (including vegetarian), salads and homemade pies.

IHM Golden Age Club to meet

AUBURN — The Immaculate Heart of Mary Golden Age Club will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Sacred Heart Church hall.

Following a social hour, the club will have a shepherd’s pie dinner with assorted desserts, concluding with a short meeting and auction swap.

Reservations are required by Sunday, April 10. Cost is $6. New members ages 50 and older are welcome.

Color the Night Away

LEWISTON — Lewiston Public Library will color the night away at 5 p.m. Monday, April 11. 

The library will have a variety of coloring pages as well as colored pencils, markers and crayons. There will be soothing music and refreshments to help participants relax.

The event is open to teenagers and adults. Supplies are provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own.

Pickers to hold jam session

AUBURN — The Park Avenue Pickers have scheduled an open jam session at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Auburn United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave. 

The session is open to all levels of acoustic musicians from beginners to advanced. All interested musicians may bring instruments, voices, friends and whatever lyrics or music they wish to play.

College planning workshops in Lewiston

LEWISTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host three free workshops for adults 19 and older titled Essentials of College Planning.

The first workshops will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13 and 20, at the Lewiston CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way, Lewiston.

The third will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Lisbon Adult Education, 19 Gartley St., Lisbon.

ELHS program receives grant

AUBURN — Edward Little High School’s Chemistry through Agriculture Program was awarded a $2,500 Wal-Mart Foundation grant to further the program.

Students are celebrating by hosting a Climate Summit from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the high school.

The program plans to improve its operating space as well as offer field trip opportunities to students.

DAR chapter to meet

LEWISTON — The Mary Dillingham-Burnt Meadow Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Marco’s Restaurant, 12 Mollison Way.

The speaker is Elizabeth Swift. Chapter officers will be elected as well. Prospective members are welcome.

Cribbage League lists winners

LEWISTON — Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners on March 31 were, first place, Henry Maheux and Stan Tetenman; second, David Marshall and Brian Leblanc; third, Fran St. Pierre and Roger St. Pierre; fourth, George Bussierre and Andrea Metayer; and fifth, Bert Cloutier and Richard Cloutier.

Seniors play on Thursdays at the Lewiston Armory.
