LIVERMORE FALLS — Spruce Mountain Adult and Community Education, 9 Cedar St., has announced its April classes.
Baking Pies: 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 5. Participants will learn how to make and bake a two-crusted pie and will take home an apple pie. Cost is $25 with an additional $20 material fee paid to the instructor.
Substitute Training: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6. The purpose of this class is to assist participants in recognizing, following and enforcing the policies, procedures and practices of the Regional School Unit 73 school district. The information in this training will be a valuable resource to those would like to be substitute teachers for RSU 73. The class is free to attend.
Magic of Collage: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7. Participants will make collages using gathered materials in ways they may not have though. Attendees are welcome to bring their own gathered materials. Cost is $20, with an additional $10 material fee paid directly to the instructor.
Friday Morning Social: 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 8. The event is geared toward those who love dominoes, bingo and cribbage. Cost is $5.
Firearms Hunter Safety: 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 13, 26 and 28, at Spruce Mountain High School cafeteria. This state of Maine-approved firearms course is required to obtain a hunting license. Students must attend all three classes to complete the course. Cost is $15.
Performing Weddings as a Notary Public: 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 13. This class is for current notary publics who wish to perform wedding ceremonies. Maine is one of three states to allow notary publics to do so; South Carolina and Florida are the other two. Cost is $35.
Family Fun Night: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14. This night of games, crafts and more designed for the whole family. This month’s theme is Earth Day. The event is free.
Does Cancer Scare You?: 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 27. This session will explore how what humans put into their bodies may help protect them from cancer or make them more vulnerable. Attendees will learn about other things that can be done to enhance their resistance to diseases of all kinds. Discussed will be the role antioxidants play in protecting cells. Cost is $7.
Baking Bread: Choice of 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 28, May 5 or May 12. Attendees will learn to make and bake yeast bread. Recipe will allow attendees to make breads, cinnamon rolls and other treats. Participants will bring home one loaf of bread along with the recipe. Cost is $25, with additional $15 material fee paid to the instructor.
Paint ‘n’ Sip: Friday, April 29. Social hour from 5 to 6 p.m., painting from 6 to 9 p.m. Painter Talya Briana will host this class at LaFleur’s restaurant in Jay. Participants will learn to paint a masterpiece while hanging out with friends. Participants are asked to sign up at least one week in advance. Cost is $25.
