LEWISTON — Gabriel Jacques of Lewiston, a senior at Lewiston High School, has been selected to receive the 2016 Principal’s Award, Principal Shawn Chabot recently announced. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
In naming Jacques the winner, Principal Chabot said, “There really is not a finer young gentleman at school than Jacques. He exudes grace, humility, kindness and generosity. He is principled, trustworthy, unselfish and a dazzling performer in the classroom.”
Jacques, Chabot and other award winners and their principals attended an honors luncheon in Bangor on April 2. The luncheon recognized outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace McGowan and Richard Tyler, former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
