100 years ago, 1916
The new uniforms for the superintendents and foremen of the Lunn & Sweet Shoe Factory have arrived. The suits of the foremen are gray ornamented with gilt letters while those of the superintendents are of blue with gilt letters.

50 years ago, 1966
Game Warden Harry N. Kearney of Turner reported Thursday he has noticed but little open water on lakes in this section. Brooks and streams are all open but the warden said he has not heard of any really good catches so far, In spots under bridges where there is swift water the ice has disappeared and some brown trout reportedly have been taken. Among the spots the game warden had noted were at Tacoma Lakes, at the causeways at East Auburn and the bridge at North Auburn.

25 years ago, 1991
Lisbon’s gazebo construction project is back in full swing, after slowing fund-raising activities during the holidays and tax season. To date, four local organizations make up over half the funds donated so far. Other cash contributions reportedly have been coming in slowly and in small amounts, in one case from as far away as Virginia. Fund-raising co-chairman Jerry Wertman said people are already thinking of ways the gazebo can be used. One resident has asked if it could be used for a wedding reception.
