The Maine Table Tennis League held its first March Madness Tournament on March 19.
The format was a round robin, with players playing at least seven matches each. Four categories of players participated, with competitors from Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire .
Trophies and cash prizes were awarded that day. Free pizza was served during the day. Then event was such a huge success, that the committee is already planning next year’s tournament . he tournament was held at the Lewiston Armory.
The winners are follows:
A Event: Sonu Bhatia ( $100 prize)
Peter Wong ($50 prize)
B Event: Bill Preis (trophy)
Sebastian Taylor (trophy)
C Event: John Gagliano (trophy)
AW NGO (trophy)
D Event: Freeman Doore (trophy)
Todd Karp (trophy)
A Doubles event was also held and the winners and runner-ups are as follows:
Winners: Sonu Bhatia and Svet Kirtchev
Runner-ups: Shawn Charest and Ryan Roux
