LEWISTON — A Lewiston man who claimed he and his friend were only pulling a prank during an apparent robbery at Dunkin’ Donuts last year pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor Tuesday.

Billy Wilson, 21, of 50 Fairmount St. admitted to a misdemeanor charge of criminal threatening as well as misdemeanor violation of bail conditions.

An 8th District Court judge of the Unified Criminal Docket imposed a concurrent three-day jail sentence on each charge.

A felony robbery charge was dropped by prosecutors.

Wilson and Nicholas Gibbens, 24, of 23 Easton St. were charged with robbery after they reportedly held up a Dunkin’ Donuts in August as a prank. The cashier turned the tables on the pair when he pulled a gun on them after quizzing them about robbing the coffee shop.

According to the clerk, he asked the two men what he could get them.

They answered: “All of your money,” court records said.

The clerk asked if they two were robbing him.

They answered that they were.

When the clerk asked if they were joking, they answered that they weren’t, court records said.

Gibbens admitted earlier this month in Androscoggin County Superior Court to a charge of criminal threatening. As with Wilson, a felony robbery charge was dismissed.

Police said Wilson was carrying a gun while at the Auburn Mall in February, a violation of his bail conditions at the time.

Police said Wilson, who was at a shoe store, matched the description of the man a caller from a mall sporting goods store reported as a felon carrying a gun.

Wilson was with Gibbens.

Conditions of Wilson’s bail conditions included no use nor possession of dangerous weapons, being subject to random search and no contact with Gibbens.

A felony charge of violation of conditions of release against Wilson was dismissed.
