LEWISTON — Lewiston and Auburn teens are invited to attend the next session of Lewiston Public Library’s Teen Aspirations Workshop Series.
“Me, Myself & I: Cultural Preservation” will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, in the library’s Jeanne Couture Room on the first floor.
Rakiya, Shobow and Ahmed, three Somali college students, will discuss the protection and conservation of identity throughout the college experience and how to keep family and culture in mind while making important decisions about the future.
These workshops are open to all middle and high school students interested in discussing their goals and learning how to access resources to build networks of support.
Each workshop includes a presentation and/or activity followed by a question-and-answer period. Workshop presenters provide handouts for students to keep in resource folders. Free snacks are provided.
This series is co-sponsored by the Bates College Harward Center for Community Partnerships and the Lewiston Public Library, along with the assistance of community partners that have donated college-related materials and staff for the workshops.
