1930 – 2016

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Jeanine Marie Seversike, 85, a longtime resident of Chula Vista, Calif., passed away on Sunday, April 3.

Jeanine was born in Van Buren on Aug. 10, 1930, to Nazaire and Alfreda (Bell) Cyr as the oldest of their 10 children. The family moved to Lewiston in July 1941.

She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1949 and Holy Ghost Training School for Nurses of Cambridge, Mass., in 1953. She was a nurse in the pediatric department of Holy Ghost Hospital.

Jeanine was married to Carroll L. Seversike on Oct. 8, 1955. They lived in New Jersey until 1969 when they moved to Chula Vista, Calif. Her husband died in 1971.

After raising seven children, she went back to school then worked as a nurses aide at Bay General Hospital in Chula Vista, Calif., retiring in 1997.

Jeanine had a passion for her children and grandchildren, who loved her dearly. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her seven children, Kerry Seversike of Chula Vista, Calif., Alan (Shirley) Seversike of Trophy Club, Texas, LuAnn (Rod) Schaar of Ontario, Calif., Tami (Keith) Roby of Chino Hills, Calif., Karen (Chris) White of Temecula, Calif., Lee (Annie) Seversike of Trophy Club, Texas, and Patti (Orlander) Guest of Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; also four brothers, Eugene Cyr of Sabattus, Daniel Cyr of Lewiston, Victor (Sharon) Cyr of Warner Robins, Ga., and David Cyr of Lewiston; four sisters, Elaine A. Berube of Auburn, Nancy Henaire of Biddeford, Vivian Cyr of Lewiston, and Mona (Paul) Bosse of Peoria, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Bernadette Cyr; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; and one brother, Gilman Cyr.
