LEWISTON — Central Maine Medical Center raised more than $109,500 for its Special Delivery Family Birthing Center at its 20th annual Spring Gala at the Kora Shrine Center April 9.

The theme of this year’s annual dinner-dance affair was “Mad Hatters Ball.”

Guests enjoyed a social hour with hors d’ouevres, a four-course dinner featuring food inspired by Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland,” and dancing to the Jim Ciampi Band. Cast members from Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre entertained and interacted with guests as main characters from the book.

The hospital is in the analysis phase of a several-step process to build a new Maternity Unit and neonatal ICU suite. The success of the 2016 Spring Gala brings the hospital one step closer to the building project.

The event was made successful with the support of volunteers from the CMMC Associates Volunteer Program and the Woman’s Hospital Association.
