1919 – 2016

LEWISTON — Flora M. Cusson, 96, of Lewiston passed away Saturday, April 23, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.

She was born in Lewiston on May 8, 1919, a daughter of the late Forrest and Edith (Giles) Smith. She grew up in the area and attended local schools. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1937. That same year, she married the love of her life, Laurier Cusson at St. Peter’s Church in Lewiston and the two started a family together.

Flora spent most of her life taking care of the home, her husband and their children, but it is said that an ideal day in the life of Flora would consist of enjoying a nice glass of wine and going out dancing and talking with a lot of people. She was very fond of country music and was a big fan of Toby Keith.

Flora is survived by her three children, Laurier Cusson Jr., Irene Spencer and Robert Cusson; as well as her grandson, Erick Spencer; and great-grandchildren, William and Edward Spencer and Alyssa Vittori. She also leaves behind her nephews, Norman and Richard Cusson, Roger and Ronald Cloutier, and Robert and Ronald Martineau; along with her nieces, Donna and Sue Emerson.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 69 years, Laurier Cusson Sr.; and her two sisters, Beulah Pacquin and Della Everett.
