My wife and I have become very disgusted and disappointed with the political party convention process in Maine. Now in our older years, we find it easier to get involved and join the convention process since we no longer work or have to raise children. We have gone several times during the past 11 years.

This year, my wife had been in poor health, but we persevered and decided to go. Our plan was to leave Thursday for Friday’s voting and then go home.

Not to be. We were told the voting day was changed to Saturday. People can imagine how we felt, and there was no explanation. The fix was in for Cruz.

What to do? We were there so we decided to stay. We didn’t want to stay, but had little choice.

I did notice that most of the delegates for Donald Trump were silver-haired and probably didn’t have the patience or strength to stay until late Saturday afternoon.

We stayed for the first vote, which was a cluster of disorganization, and then left.

I don’t know what is to become of the Republican Party but, for now, it is in quite a mess.

God bless America and God help us.
