LISBON — The town was recently ranked the 12th safest city in Maine by SafeWise, a home security company.

Previously, the town ranked 14.

The criteria used for ranking the Maine cities included the amount of violent crimes per 1,000 and property crimes per 1,000.

Lisbon ranked 1.13 for violent crimes per 1,000 people and 8.67 for property crimes per 1,000 people.

SafeWise analysts used the most recent FBI crime data from 2014 to rank the cities, which have a minimum population of 3,000.
