LEWISTON — “What’s Up ‘Down There,’” an update on Pap-screening, HPV and cancer prevention, is the topic of a presentation set for Wednesday, May 11, at Central Maine Medical Center.

Kathleen Sheridan, M.D., an obstetrician-gynecologist who practices with Central Maine Obstetrics-Gynecology, will discuss the latest news and research regarding Pap screening, as well as human papillomavirus and its relationship to cancer. She will explore the importance of vaccinations against the HPV virus.

Sheridan earned her medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pa., where she was named Outstanding Student in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the Pennsylvania State University Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.

She is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

The presentation will be offered at 6 p.m. in Conference Room H in the medical office building at 12 High St., adjacent to CMMC. There is no charge for participating, but registration is required.
