Pine Cone Chapter to meet

AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

The chapter will honor the station of marshal. Roy Clark, grand marshal for the grand chapter of Maine, has been invited.

A potluck supper will precede the meeting at 6 p.m.

All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Cancer and Health at The Ark

LEWISTON — Richard Bernard, health educator and medical missionary, will present Cancer and Health at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at The Ark & Olive Branch Cafe, 791 Lisbon St.

Sixth Street Church sale

AUBURN — Sixth Street Church will have a yard and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at 109 Sixth St.

The bake sale will have pies, homemade bread, cookies and gluten-free baked goods. There will be a white elephant table as well as books.

WLU children’s tea in May

AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union will host children’s tea in five sessions over two days, Saturday and Sunday, May 14 and 15, at the Foss mansion, 19 Elm St.

The theme for this year’s tea is Peter Pan. Girls and boys alike will be entertained by costumed actors and actresses who tell about Peter’s adventures with Captain Hook, his pirate crew and Tiger Lily, the Indian princess. This is an opportunity for children to come dressed in their best clothes. Dolls or favorite snuggly stuffed friends are welcome.

Tea, lemonade and light snacks will be served while attendees browse the decorated mansion and shop in the doll boutique. The 2016 American Girl doll, Lea, will be the featured raffle at the event.

All seating is by reservation. Tickets costs $11, and children younger than 2 are free with a paid adult.

Public works to be celebrated

AUBURN — Auburn Public Services will celebrate National Public Works Week from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Norway Savings Bank Arena.

Families may explore highway equipment and discover the services offered by the city. There will be free ice skating with rentals available, door prizes and giveaways.

Bridge club lists winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on May 2 were, first, Marta Clements and Pete Cummings; second, Paul Mitnik and Paul Sherman; third, Ellie and George Wigton; and fourth, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock. First in C were Ellie and George Wigton; second, Cynthia and Bill Clifford.

Winners on May 3 were, first, Sharron Hinckley an Fred Letournau; second, Nancy Farmer and Roger Labbe; and third, Claire Lyons and George Dumas.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A bridge partner is always guaranteed, and all bridge players are welcome.
