1942 – 2016

DIXFIELD — Daniel R. Rand Sr., 73, of Dixfield passed Tuesday, May 3, after complications of being “too sexy” and after years as a runway model for Dr. Scholls Odor Eaters. Fans will recognize him best from his silky-smooth voice, graceful dance moves and elegantly contoured nose. His last request was to remind all of his family, friends and acquaintances how lucky they were to know him!

Born in Dixfield on Aug. 24, 1942, he was a son of Delbert and Dorothy (Gould) Rand. He was a graduate of Dirigo High School in Dixfield. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked as a millwright for International Paper mill in Jay.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Rand; his three sons, Daniel Rand Jr., David Rand and Donald Rand; two grandsons, Joshua Rand and Marcus Rand; his brother, Delbert “Benjamin” Rand Sr.; seven nieces and nephews, Pauline Thurston, Michael Rand, Roger Rand, Nancy Seidel, Susan Wilson, J. Luke Amorim and Sally Clemens; six stepchildren, Debra Thompson, Daniel Drennan, Nancy Pellerin, Susan Robitaille and her husband, David, Dolores Stubbs and Gina Ouellette; 12 step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Delbert Rand and Dorothy Gould Rand; his uncle, Ray Gould; and his niece, Barbara Thurston.

Friends and relatives are invited to sign the online guest book and share memories with the family at www.meaderandson.com.
