1921 – 2016

LEWISTON — Marguerite P. Girouard, 94, formerly of Highland Avenue, Lewiston, died on Wednesday, May 4, at Montello Commons, where she resided for the past year.

Born in Berlin, N.H., Aug. 29, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Odelie Jacques Perreault. She was educated at St. Regis Academy and attended Berlin High School.

She was married to Lionel Girouard on Aug. 14, 1943, in Lewiston. He died Sept. 28, 1994. Marguerite was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church and was also a member of the Ladies of St. Anne’s Sodality of that parish.

She worked as an inspector at Maine Electronic prior to her retirement in March 1985. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards, traveling and spending time with her family. Our mom will be remembered for her kindheartedness and love for her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Spooner and husband, Richard, of Sabattus; two sons, Maurice and wife, Jolene Girouard, Ronald and wife, Joline Girouard, both of Lewiston; her grandchildren, Ryan Spooner, Jennifer, Jeffrey and Andrew Girouard; her sister, Gabrielle Sirois of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by three sisters, Cecile Ferron, Olive Poisson and Therese Nadeau; and her brother, Gerard Perreault.
