ITHACA, N.Y. — U.S. veteran Gaetan A. Martin passed away Tuesday, May 3, in Ithaca, N.Y., one day shy of his 84th birthday.

He was born in Lewiston, son of the late Jean and Gabrielle Bedard Martin. He was the widower of Marie Jeanne Martin, who died Feb. 12, 2016. He and Marie had lived in Ithaca for the past 20 years.

Gaetan was retired from Pratt & Whitney where he had worked for many years and had served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post No. 961 and the Immaculate Conception Church.

Gaetan is survived by his daughter, Diane (William) Brooks; his sons, Jean (Sundy) Martin and Maurice Martin; and his four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Helen (Romeo) LePage; and brother, Julien (Jolene) Martin.
