1936 – 2016

AUBURN — Barbara Ann Houghton died on May 4, 2016 at the age of 79. After a very short battle with cancer, she passed away while surrounded by her family at Hospice House in Auburn.

Barbara was born on July 25, 1936 in Akron, OH to Caroline and Norris Hopson, but moved to California during her childhood. Over the years, she has lived in many different states from coast to coast, with her final home being in Auburn, (Lake Auburn Towne House).

She worked in the nursing field for several years and later ran her own daycare. She was a very giving and caring person so no matter what she was doing for work, it was always taking care of others.

Barbara is survived by her brother, David Hopson (in California); sons, Tom and David, and her daughter, Nanci Seliga; grandchildren, Dereich, Tyler, Haley and Elisabeth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norris Hopson and Caroline and Jim Devlin (stepfather).

The family would like to thank the hospital staff at CMMC as well as the staff at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice (Hospice House).
