1939 – 2016

AUBURN — Charles W. Beardsley died peacefully on Tuesday, May 3 at the Hospice House in Auburn. He was 76 years old.

Chuck was born in Newark, N.J. on Nov. 1, 1939, the son of Charles Wilbur and Florence Margaret.

He is survived by his daughter, Janet, her husband, Kevin, her mother, Mary Jane; and his brother, Rick.

Chuck lived in Tudor City, N.Y.C. for 40 years, served on the Greens Committee, and loved the neighborhood’s peaceful, landmark parks.

Chuck was a mechanical engineer with a master’s in technical writing from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He worked in publishing, serving as editor for many engineering journals, including: IESNA Lighting Design and Application, Ingersoll-Rand Compressed Air and ASME Mechanical Engineering. He was long-term director of publishing activities for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and, ultimately, their managing director of engineering.

Chuck was an award-winning writer who lived most of his life in Manhattan. He was an avid opera fan and loved everything associated with trains and train stations.

The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the amazing nurses in ICU and the Palliative Care team at CMMC, especially Michelle Jasinowski, A.C.N.P and Kathy Amsden, L.S.W. With their support, we were able to move Chuck to the Hospice House for the peaceful death he requested. We are forever grateful.
