ANSWER: There are a number of wonderful seamstresses in the area. Here are just a few to start your search:

Veronica’s Creations in Greene can be reached by calling (207) 946-2123 or 514-6820. You can also email Veronica at Veronicascreate@aol.com.

Cecile Giguere of Lewiston also offers clothing alteration services, and you can reach her by calling (207) 784-3028.

Nita’s Alterations, based out of Turner, is another option. The number is (207) 225-2594.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I enjoy reading your column every day. I am looking for preferably nonprofit groups who would be interested in the following items: craft supplies, including — but not limited to — beads, rug yarn, Styrofoam balls, fabric and much more.

I have heard of an organization in Portland that accepts furniture such as beds, dressers and desks for needy people. Can anyone tell me the name and hopefully phone number for that group?

I also once read of a place that recycles old T-shirts to make diapers. Does anyone know if they still do, and the name and contact info for that group? Thank you. — No Name, Norway.

ANSWER: Sun Spots hopes that any nonprofit groups out there with a need for your donation will write in and let us know.

As for the furniture charity in Portland about which you inquired, Sun Spots thinks you must be referring to Furniture Friends which matches used, donated furniture in good condition to the most vulnerable groups of people who need those items. You can reach them by calling (207) 210-5797.

Finally, although it is entirely possible to repurpose T-shirts into cloth diapers, Sun Spots was unable to find a local organization currently advertising a need for such donations. Perhaps a reader will write in with additional information.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Are you looking for some fun? Volunteer at Advocates for Children. We are seeking volunteers to help with playgroups on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Call Kim for more information at (207) 783- 3990. Or email to kdesso@advocatesforchildren.net. Thank you. — Kim, Lewiston.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Rumford Grange will hold its spring Craft Fair on June 4 at the Rumford Center Grange Hall. This is in conjunction with the Petting Zoo for the children. We still have tables available for crafters. Please call (207) 786-3248 for more information. Lunch will be available. — Stephen, Rumford.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Poland Regional High School Project Graduation 2016 would like to say “thank you” to all who responded to our request for donations to our yard sale. It was another success. Also, thank you to all who donated back in July and August of this past summer for our August yard sale. I’m sure Project Graduation 2017 will follow us having their own yard sales, and I will pass on the Sun Spots resource so they too can have a successful yard sale in August of 2016. Thank you, it was greatly appreciated. — Jennifer, Mechanic Falls.
